Underground Adventure - Field Museum

Underground Adventure is a fun exhibit about soil. When you enter, you are “shrunk” down to 1/100 of your regular size, and therefore enter a world of giant bugs, insects, etc. Some of the bugs move slightly, but none are very sudden or come out of the enclosed areas. Following the underground area, you return to your normal size and there’s information about soil and how we depend on it.

Lower elementary-aged kids will find the exhibit delightfully creepy, and it’ll do pretty well for slightly above and below that age group.

For children with sensory issues, be aware that there are flashing lights, and the whole atmosphere is designed to feel creepy with corresponding eerie sounds and dark hallways.
